Salishan Kennels is located in Aldergrove, just 30 minutes from Vancouver, B.C., Canada., right on the U.S./Canada border, 2 hours from Seattle and 20 minutes from the Bellingham airport in Washington State. We relocated to Aldergrove in November 2008, where we continue to enjoy our animals and life in the country.
Salishan Meadows is renowned for breeding some of the finest Thoroughbred horses in Canada, and we strive to uphold the same excellence and standards of quality in our Jack Russell Terriers. We accept nothing less than outstanding conformation, working ability, genetic health and disposition.
Thirty years of experience in the breeding of successful racehorses has taught us the importance of soundness, both structurally AND genetically. We BAER (hearing) and annually CERF (eyes) all of our breeding stock. These records will be provided upon request.
We put a great deal of thought into each litter, our goal being to produce the best puppies that we can, knowing that many of them will be cherished members of a family. Our adult terriers are registered with the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America. It is the largest registry of JRT's in the world, and their focus is preserving the working integrity of the Jack Russell as a breed. We support that ideal and do our best to uphold their standards (*Please note, our terriers are NOT Parson Russell Terriers which register with the Kennel Clubs).
Salishan Terriers are born in our home, and as they grow, they thrive in the freedom of running and playing all over the farm. They enjoy regular interaction with children, other dog breeds, livestock and those who come and go on our property. We believe this uncompromised devotion to their mental health and physical well being creates a terrier suitable for the hunt field, the show ring, and as a beloved companion.
We welcome visitors to our kennels by appointment and encourage those considering a Jack Russell Terrier to research the breed thoroughly. While being owned by a Jack Russell will probably be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life, they are not a dog suitable for everyone.
Thank you for coming here and taking the time to learn more about Salishan Terriers. To the left is an index of the chapters we have created to showcase our 4-legged family.
